Week 12
April 18 - 22

Monday, April 18 Easter Monday - no school

Tuesday, April 19

1) Take a Minute to Review - Sentence Structure
2) Finish the Introduction of the Literary Analysis - this has been quite the process but a necessary one!  Students write 4 (maybe 5) sentences.
1: the Hook
2) the connection to the piece - remember this is a poem by John Updike called "The Mosquito"
3) 2 different ideas of how the mosquito was portrayed.  The question is about DICTION the author's choice of language to create an image of a mosquito.
THIS WORK IS DUE into the bin.
Combine all the elements into a paragraph and voila we have an introduction to the literary analysis! Good work team English 10

DO NOT FORGET - Wednesday is an open book quiz on the terms (which you have recorded) that are written on the white paper at the side of the classroom

Wednesday, April 20

1) Open book terms quiz
2) Hand in the quiz and READ your novel
3) The Metaphor by Budge Wilson - will read in class.  Please look at Week 8 for an audio file of "The Metaphor" in case the link here doesn't work. Here is an audio link:  api.ndla.no/audio/files/the_metaphor.mp3
4) Graphic Organizer on the 4 characters in the short story - specifically looking at the metaphors Wilson created about them.
5) Look at character traits -

Thursday, April 21

1) Read
2) Sentence Construction - Complex
3) Body of Literary Essay - Hook, Connection to Literature (state author, type of piece, and title of piece) thesis points - in this case diction - word choice around mosquito.

Friday, April 22

I wasn't here and apparently the students choose to go to the basketball game.
